Happy Easter Weekend

Easter is a fun time to take photos. Spring is in the air. Light is perfect. I like to set up still life photos of tiny things and use a macro lens to blow out the image. Fun stuff.
My husband Dan designed the Easter Sculpture. Love it.

The Bird Feeder in Chinatown Park

He makes a daily trip to the park in Chinatown SF.  He is on foot and lives out of his backpack. He brings a large bag of bread scraps for the birds. He is the official bird feeder. He is content to feed the birds. He has a knack for feeding birds.

Park in SF Chinatown

Dan and I went on an art outing to the park in Chinatown, SF. It is so fun to take photos of the Chi gong Groups, card playing groups, and people just hanging out. I used my 1984 Hasselblad and shot portraits and Dan sketched.  A perfect SF day.

Dan and I love  Peg Grady's art. We saw her "Dear Diary" show at Deer Run Art and Artifacts in Cambria last month. I also love her daily discards pieces that are her "small testaments to items whose once useful lives have run their course." She is an innovative artist and her art takes you to places that you have pushed way down into your psyche. Kudos to Peg. Go out to the Steynberg Gallery Sept 6-Oct 3 to see her next show Small Stories.

Who is Sugar Man?

image                   image

Dan and I loved this movie. It tells the incredible true story of Rodriguez one of the greatest '70s rock icons. He was discovered in a Detroit bar, had recorded an album that bombed here in the USA. But a recording of Rodriguez found its way into S Africa where he became a phenomenon. See the film. I will not blow it for you. The film shots of Detroit are a photographer's dream. This man is my new idol. Love him and Love his music. His voice is a little bit Dylan, Cat Stevens, and James Taylor all wrapped up in one.

Brava for The Quartet

image                                  image

See this film.  Dustin Hoffman directed The Quartet and Ronald Harwood wrote the screenplay and play that ran in London's West End. It stars Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Pauline Collins, Tom Courtenay, and Michael Gambon. It is a 2012 British Comedy Drama about the lives of gifted retired musicians living at Beecham House.  Much of the supporting cast is made up actual musical stars of the past. At the end of the film you will see the credits of their musical careers. I cried and laughed and pray that I can age with these caring souls around me. Do not miss it. It is a touching film.

Everyone Loves Raymond

Raymond is not afraid to change his hair. He cuts it. He grows it long. He gels it. He shapes it. He shaves it. He styles it. His hair changes are admired. Everyone Loves Raymond.

Loving the Camera Phone

This is a photo of my cat Louie taken with my new Samsung Gusto 2. Kathleen G and Angelica F at the Verizon stores in Ag and San Luis Obispo were very helpful to me. I love the texting graphics and the upgrades from my older Samsung. The camera is great and love the fact this comes out of a flip phone.

Portrait of a Lady

Portrait of a Lady created by Dominique Ropion is a classic Frederic Malle parfum. I put it on today and I was immediately transformed into someone else. Dangerous. It is an oriental fragrance combining musk, sandalwood, rose and patchouli, cinnamon, and frankincense.
