Portrait fashion photos by Shoichi Aoki

Fruits a portrait book by Shoichi Aoki is a fun book I picked up at the SFMOMA. This is where fashion has no stops. It displays portraits of individuals from the streets of Harajuku in Tokyo. It will make you smile when you are trying to decide if you should have your hair highlighted with a few highlights or lowlights. It is kitsch. It is cool.

  1. One word: Shibuya. I have been reading all about odd fashion in Japan and it was very interesting. There are: Lolita, which can vary from gothic, punk, classic, and sweet; Ganguro, which is tanned with white eyeliner; Kogal, which is a school-uniform based with short-er skirt; Cosplay which is short for "costume play" where one wears a costume like its halloween and many, many more. Japanese people are very interesting and I really do hope that they triumph over the crisis that they are in right now.
