This is art and I love it. No guess work. It is the famous porcelain urinal signed " R. Mutt" and titled "Fountain" by Marcel Duchamp in 1917. This was one of his art "readymades", art produced by Duchamp from already existing objects. The artist originally submitted this piece for the exhibition of the Society of Independent Artists in 1917. The piece was rejected and then eventually displayed and photographed at Alfred Stieglitz's studio. I am drawn to Duchamp's readymades. They rattle my brain cells in new directions. This readymade is on display at the SFMOMA.
